Just a Minute No 9
When God became human
He did not hold back in any way.
He did not protect himself from
the shadow side of being human –
suffering - and even a
shameful death!
He accepted the human lot
of total dependency
all the way to death.
It was this spirit
of dependence and surrender
that animated and drove Jesus
all through his human life.
It centred
His whole life and death
to the One he liked to call
‘Abba ,Father’.
Christ showed us
by his life and death
how we become truly human.
‘Have this mind among yourselfs, which was in
Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality
with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a
servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he
humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross.’ (Phil.
2:5-8)
